Shane Crowley grew up in Chevy Chase, went through Georgetown Day School start to finish, left for Vanderbilt, and came back for Georgetown Law. He has lived and worked in Washington nearly his whole life.
For more than twelve years he has done two things at once: represented buyers and sellers across the District and close-in Maryland, and worked the development side, taking ground-up and renovation projects from land acquisition through construction and delivery. Brokerage is his full focus now.
Every agent in Washington will tell you they know these neighborhoods. It is the most common claim in the business and the hardest one for a client to evaluate, because from the outside there is no difference between someone who has studied a neighborhood and someone who has worked in one.
Shane has done both, on the same streets, in the same years. He knows what it costs to build in these neighborhoods this year, not what it cost three years ago. He has worked on old historic houses and built new ones from the ground up, so he knows which properties are hiding expensive problems and which ones just look tired. And he knows which contractors finish on schedule, because he has hired the ones who do and the ones who don't.
For a buyer, that means learning what a renovation actually costs before writing the offer rather than four months after. For a seller, it means a clear read on which work returns more than it costs, which should be left alone and priced accordingly, and — when a property genuinely warrants it — what the land itself is worth.
He also holds a law degree from Georgetown. He doesn't practice and isn't anyone's attorney, but he reads a contract the way someone trained to read contracts does, which earns its keep on nearly every file.
For families relocating to Washington, DC, Shane provides end-to-end support by connecting clients with a trusted professional network, including private school and educational consultants, top-tier physicians, architects, vetted general contractors, and trade specialists.
Shane lives in Georgetown with two kids in local schools. He runs the Potomac most mornings, plays to a single-digit handicap, and keeps close track of the city's new restaurant openings — clients text him for recommendations more than they expect to. He represents buyers and sellers across DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia with Compass.
